It Begins…
By Tyler DiPietro
UPDATE: References here and here, for the rare individuals who don’t already know the background of the most recent episode in the “Expelled” saga.
Shorter William Wallace:
Legal threats and copyright shakedowns
In the midst of this copyright dispute, the most important thing to remember is that everything is a Darwinist conspiracy to silence the legions of closet creationists in academia. I substantiate the parsimonious nature of this explanation with speculations I have realized via my ass.
UPDATE: Shorter Denyse O’Leary:
Even if XVIVO’s currently copyrighted work is the result of substantial monetary and research investments, being ripped-off by creationists is just part of life.
Shorter Bill Dembski:
I’m pretty sure the “Expelled” guys didn’t fuck up as badly as I did. I mean, come on! That’s not really possible, is it?
UPDATE: Shorter DaveScot:
XVIVO is backing out of the lawsuit. My evidence for this proposition is precisely as strong as the evidence for Intelligent Design.

Yes, I honored your trackback, which is probably more than any in the PT-mafia will do for my trackbackss.
I do have a question: why did you use the phrase “legions of closet creationists in academia”?
Meanwhile, why don’t you leave a comment on my blog before the trackback request?

I have it automated to send pings and trackbacks to those whose posts I link to. If you don’t want it there, you can always delete it.
“I do have a question: why did you use the phrase “legions of closet creationists in academia”?”
Because that’s the whole premise of the film you’re defending. That there are a bunch of closet creationists cowering in fear of an all-pervasive Darwinian orthodoxy.

Oh well. Anyway, you’ve been listed as a promoter of the film.

William Dembski is a goddamn dumbass. That was really breathtaking stupidity, even from him. Copying the video and tweaking it slightly doesn’t make copyright infringement go away, since the copyright holders can still prove that the animation is substantially derived from their work.
I doubt Dembski would sit still for someone who basically paraphrased one of his works with acknowledgment, so why does he think the producers of Expelled can get away with it, and worse why does he think they’re being clever when they try to do so?
